UEFA EURO 2020 challenge in Bilbao

As part of my study abroad at Cámarabilbao in Bilbao, I got involved in a challenge of Public Relations: event management. This event was purposed for UEFA EURO 2020 and in particular, the kick-off volunteer event for all the volunteers helping at the UEFA EURO 2020 in Bilbao originated out of Spain and its surroundings. In total, the volunteers are a group of around 1000 people.

We worked in groups for approximately one month to accomplish this unique challenge. We had to get in contact with potential partners with budgets and to create unique ideas with wow-effects in addition to the main points:

• Location and general set-up

• Invitation, promotion on social media

• Presence control, check-in and no-shows

• Catering

• Wow-effects

• Special guests & mascot

• Team-building activities

• Master of Ceremony

• IT Resources

• Special gifts

• Photos

• Impact evaluation

• Gender dimension, sustainability and respect

Finally, we presented this in the San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao. It was an honour to be asked to fulfil this challenge. I really enjoyed the effort we invested in it as well as the great team atmosphere. After all, we received a personal certificate as proof of successful participation.
